About Us

Our church had its humble beginnings in February of 1947, when the "Mission of the Holy Spirit" was established and conducted its earliest services  at the Memorial Hall in Shannock. A ground breaking ceremony was held in May of 1948 and a service of dedication for the new church building was held in May of 1955. Our church was moved by truck in three pieces to its current site in Charlestown in April of 1963.

Since that time we have evolved into an active Christian community striving to fill the universal human need for relationship with God.

In the unpredictable and tumultuous world in which we now live, Holy Spirit remains a Christian community committed to spiritual growth and discipleship of Jesus Christ through worship, education and community/world service.

Our Godly Play program for our youth as well as our adult education classes help support our  spiritual  growth throughout our congregation from our youngest members to our most elder parishioners.

Some first impressions of Church of the Holy Spirit: "When I moved here and started church-shopping, this was my first and only stop; my family and I have been here ever since. There is a sense of community here. On entering the church, I immediately felt that it was an intensely Spirit-filled place. I felt welcomed right away."
